The monastic library– analog knowledge resource for hundreds of years

The tremendous dimensions, the enormous number of books, and the lavish furnishing of the late Baroque impress visitors from all over the world.

In 1176 the hall was completed with a dome-fresco, which contains about 70.000 books. Hard to believe that that is only a part of the total stock of the monastery. In total one can find more than 200.000 books in the library. More than 1.400 manuscripts and 530 early works (up to the year 1500) are being preserved there for posterity.

The museums – Art history, natural history, and contemporary art on three stories

In the museum-ensemble, which was opened in 2003, you can find numerous different exhibits in one place. An architectural and content-related fusion of old and new creates a special space to explore and immerse yourself in.

Our tip: Traveling by bus and combined tickets

Plan your journey to the monastery with a stopover at Leopoldsteinersee. Optionally, also combine your journey with a trip to Erzberg.

Parking spots for buses are available close to the monastery Admont. From there, guests can reach the monastery via a small path. The entire area is barrier-free. Optionally, groups can also book a lunch in the monastery cellar.
