From Hotel Kongress to wild waters and steep cliffs

Bus- and group tour to the Gesäuse National Park

The roaring white waters of the Enns and the towering rock formations of the “Gesäuse” mountains make a trip through this mountain region an unforgettable experience. The 16 km long Enns-gorge between Admont and Hieflau owes its name to the sound of the water echoing off the rocks as it overcomes a gradient of over 150 meters on this short stretch.

The Gesäuse is both the only national park and the largest nature park in Styria. The national park was founded in 2002 and covers an area of around 120 km².

Climbing paradise and water sports mecca - the Gesäuse in Styria

The Gesäuse mountains rise up to 1700 meters from the valley and climbers from all over the world still treat the routes in this area with respect. In most cases the hiking routes require surefootedness and a head for heights. The climbs are rewarded with fantastic views and unforgettable impressions. Numerous huts take care of the culinary well-being of mountain sports enthusiasts.

White water fans will find everything their hearts desire on the Enns and Salza rivers. Numerous kayaking and rafting service providers offer tours and experiences along the two rivers.

Visitor centers in the Gesäuse National Park

Bringing the national park to life - that is the task of the visitor centers in the national park. They provide tourist information, look after guests and offer exciting insights into the nature of the water and mountain world with exhibitions.

  • Admont information office
The information office in Admont houses both the tourism association and the Gesäuse National Park information office. The National Park Travel Office is happy to help clubs and bus groups with individual program suggestions!
  • National park pavilion Gstatterboden
Conveniently located on the main road, the building houses an information point for the Gesäuse National Park with a small store as well as the exhibition "Planspitze - Mountain of Contrasts". During the opening hours of the pavilion, the "Treasures of Alpine Flora" exhibition in the old Gstatterboden sawmill is open to the public!
  • Experience center Weidendom
In the village of Johnsbach, you can find the Weidendom. On the banks of the Enns, a wide range of activities await visitors, allowing them to immerse themselves in the wild side of the national park for a while. Additionally cozy swings invite you to rest and linger. From here you have a spectacular view of the Hochtor mountain group. The Weidendom area is also accessible outside of opening hours!

Hotel tip: By bus from Eisenerz to Admont

The Benedictine monastery of Admont with the world's largest monastery library can be ideally combined with the spectacular journey through the Gesäuse.
